Smoky Eye: Posh as Fuck

It's been quite a while since I've done a classic smoky eye. I forgot how amazing I feel in it.

So yeah. I feel so sexy in a deep, black smoky eye. I feel like it's endlessly posh. I actually had Sexxx Dreams by Lady Gaga in my head as I did this look.

Since this look is getting some love on my instagram, I might do a tutorial for it soon.

"Soon" turned into 3 weeks, but there's finally a tutorial!

Here are some tips, as requested!

When I do super dark eye makeup of any kind, the key for me is layering. For this look, I used Urban Decay Primer Potion, they set the lid with Strange from Naked 3. I then built up layers using Limit, Nooner, and Darkside, Makeup Forever shadow No. 162 (burgundy), then finished off the layers with a matte brown and black from Nude'Tude by theBalm. Layering makes blending SO much easier, and it also helps me build color.

I said "tips", but that's actually the only tip. Layer the fuck out of it.

The only non-matte shade I used was Darkside from Naked 3, which has a slight sheen/shimmer. I chose to use mauves and burgundies instead of greys, because 1) I love them, and 2) they flatter my skin and hair a little more. (Note: I left out Darkside in my video tutorial, making the look completely matte.)

So here are some more photos becuase HHHHNNNNGGGGGGG SMOKY EYESSS

  1. I DIDN'T KNOW YOU HAD A BLOG! Subscribed immediately, I love your looks! (And your derp faces even more!) I really like how this particular look suits you, doing dark eyes like this can be so overpowering but on you it looks fierce but feminine. Awesome stuff.

  2. First off let me just say I love your work! You are awe inspiringly creative and talented. But I have a question... How do you get your freckles to shine so brilliantly through when wearing foundation? I love the way your skin looks! Please let me know if you have any tips. Thank you :) Erin

    1. Thank you so much! Honesty, I think my freckles are prominent enough to somehow stand out on their own pretty well. I don't do anything special really with my foundation application. If I really want to leave my skin as natural as possible, I go with Skin79 BB Cream (I use Hot Pink), if I need a more pale canvas, I use Revlon Colorstay in Ivory, and if I really want to highlight during summer, I use more concealer and cover the freckles more on the high planes of my face. I may do a video about it, it's kind of hard to explain! And sorry for the late reply!
