This all started when I was getting ready for girls night (we usually stay in or go to the casino). I wanted to do a mauvey look, because I love mauve, and I wanted to mix a couple lip colors like I had earlier when I got out of the shower to create a look around it.
I seriously just evolved into this, I don't even know. I love it when inspiration strikes!
I used the "tape trick" on my lower lash line eyeshadow, but kind of upside down from how it's usually done. (Terrible. Wording.)
I didn't end up using the same lip color I had messed around with earlier, but I did mix two colors: Revlon Matte Balm in Sultry, a deep pink, and ELF Matte Lip Color in Natural, which is a paler pink.
Aaaaaaaand I could probably keep explaining things about this look but I'm just going to put more photos. Because let's be real, it's fun to just look at photos.
BUT OH YEAH, hang on. I have to mention that I'm pumped that I used purple blush/contour. It's definitely some weird eyeshadow I've had for years, and all the packaging says is "Yakity Yak".
I would love to get a real purple blush, like a nice lilac. If anyone has suggestions, hit meh!
So yeah. There it is. I had a BLAST with this look, and my next plan is to make a slightly more wearable version! (But let's be real we all know I would wear that out.)
Derp face, out.

Deletewhat can I say, I have a passion... :)
DeleteThe airbrushed photos is a blogger thing and somehow connected to google+ (even if you don't have an account). As far as I remember, you have to create an account if you don't own one and disable a function that automatically messes with your pictures otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI've read about it a while ago on some German blogs, I'll research it again when I'm home and at a computer :)
Okay so I got the part right about when you upload pictures via blogger, they are automatically incorporated in Google+ and are messed with.
DeleteSo to change that, you have to go to your Google+ account (or create one since blogger still messes with your pictures even if you don't own a google+ account), go to settings, to pictures, and remove the check where it should say something about automatically optimizing your pictures (not sure what they actually call it in English, but it's the box between "uploading your pictures in original size" and "auto-effects").
Hope that helps :)
Also i love the look! Looks amazing, especially with those lashes
Thank you SO MUCH! I probably could have googled around to find that, but I really appreciate you taking the time to look for me!
DeleteThis is just stunningly magical. The blending, the tonal colors, the lashes. Brava! The mention of the reverse-tape trick for the lower lashline reminds me of this Lisa Eldridge Marilyn Monroe tutorial where she mentions that one of Marilyn's tricks was using gray liner to draw a fake shadow of her lashes extending down at a 45° angle from her outer corner. This enhanced the effect of her lashes being so heavy and luxurious that they always cast a shadow on her face. I think that's what works so well about this look: the balance of the heavy feathered lashes and that mauve shading. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAneUTr8mog
ReplyDeleteAs an aside, I first saw your looks on Reddit and am so happy I found your blog! If you're ever interested in doing some kind of collaboration, I'd love to chat!
Ahh, I saw your speckled eye today! And looking through your blog I remember LOVING that easter look you did. It just worked so well on you!
DeleteAlso, I love doing the Marilyn Monroe lash shadow thing, and honestly I didn't know it was a thing she did until another redditor brought it up on one of my posts! I always thought it was a real shadow, and I'm over here trying to recreate it... LOL. But for this look, it all just happened organically and I actually didn't plan to have the pink shadow balance the lashes, but it worked out really well!
Talk to me about what you'd like to collb on! :D
